The Dainfern Scuba Club welcomed the summer with a bang.
So the year is now well underway and the holidays are over, just in time to welcome the cold weather to Johannesburg. So before we take a quick look at some of the upcoming events, let's take a look at the adventures we had in April.
The month started with a fantastic trip to Ponta D Ouro. The weather was great, the sea flat and best of all the vis was at least 30m on every dive. The Dainfern Scuba Club added some excitement with two incredible deep dives on the Pinnacle. Two Dives including a count of 6 Zambezi Sharks, a black tip and 2 Hammerheads. That wasn't all, our last dive included the sighting of a Bowmouth Guitar Shark - Take a look at the Gallery on the Website if you want to know what these strange sharks look like. As all Aprils' seem to be just holidays and more holidays, we took advantage of the final week of spare time to take a quick trip off to Tofo. While the vis was not always great, the diving was fantastic. Each of thedivers had a chance to dive with Manta Rays and snorkel with Whale Sharks. In fact, our best Whale Shark count was stopped at 60 because we ran out of fingers! We also had a chance to dive with the very rare Small Eyed Giant Stingray. Take a look at the photos in the gallery for some memories. A few intrepid divers braved a bustling Ponta D Ouro over the same weekend and were treated to some rough seas but good diving in a packed camp.
So looking forward, there are a number of exciting adventures happening in June and July.
Our next Open Water Course starts on the 20th of May, the Advanced Course the 22nd May and the Rescue Course the 27th of May.
